Natasha Week #1: A Sunset Meaning
Sunset occurs once a day, every day. Everyone has seen it multiple times before. But I think it is one of those things where it is being perceived differently to everyone else. We all look at the same colors: yellow, orange, pink, and purple, yet a sunset can mean something completely different to each person. Although we see the same thing, the words we use to describe it are shaped by our memories, experiences, and own feelings.
When I think of a sunset, I think of the golden hour. It is a short period of time when the sun has just begun to set and everything is covered in a soft warm light. It marks the end of the day, transitioning into nighttime. It creates a calm and comforting atmosphere to be in, especially when taking a short walk along the neighborhood. It feels like the world has slowed down for a brief moment allowing us to clear our minds and enjoy the beauty. One of the reasons why sunsets can feel so meaningful is that they give us a chance to pause right before the day ends.
A sunset does not make everyone feel the same way. One might look at the warm colors and feel happy and peaceful, while others may see it as something much deeper and as a reminder to something personal. None of these feelings are wrong as they all experience a sunset through their own memories.
A sunset may seem like a simple ordinary part of nature that just happens everyday, but the way we get to experience it makes it all different. We may see the same sky, but it symbolizes many unique thoughts. It could represent happiness, loneliness, memories that are either happy or painful.
